PBL Grow Online Foundations Course

Join a spring cohort of educators and grow your teaching with project based learning!

This online workshop, limited to 35 participants (minimum of 10), will blend several synchronous learning sessions over 3 weeks with asynchronous work, coaching, and feedback sessions as we progress through our Foundations of PBL Workshop. You’ll learn PBL by engaging in the PBL process and create a project for implementation with your learners!

Week 1

Week 1 will include three sessions with synchronous instructional time from 3:00 – 4:30 pm US Eastern Daylight Time (UTC/GMT -4) each day. Content will include an overview of designing and planning PBL with the ‘levers’ of the TeachThought PBL Model and engage participants in:

multiple inquiry exercises that can be used in and outside of PBL
thinking more deeply about using Driving Questions to pull thinking and learning from students
designing scaffolding, teaching, and assessment practices that deliver surface, deep, and transfer knowledge, and more.

Week 2

Week 2 will include asynchronous work time for project development with the opportunity to schedule coaching conversation/office hours sessions.

Week 3

Week 3 will include two sessions with synchronous instructional time from 3:00 – 4:30 pm EDT and one day of asynchronous work time for project development with the opportunity to schedule coaching conversation/office hours sessions. Synchronous content will include management and implementation tools and strategies for the 5 Phases of the PBL process and group/individual accountability. We will also engage in at least one peer critique process for project refinement.

*Attendance for synchronous sessions is highly recommended and important for the quality of the collaborative work of the workshop but they will be recorded and available to participants, should they miss a session or wish to review the content. Refunds will not be provided for registrants who are unable to join synchronous sessions due to technical difficulties on their end or scheduling complications. Full refunds will be given in the event the minimum number of 10 registrants is not met.
