FOUNDATIONS OF PBL

June 1st through June 29th

  • synchronous meetings Mondays and Thursdays 4pm, EDT

How can we create projects that will better prepare students for the modern world?

Engaging through the PBL process, teachers will design a Project-Based Learning experience for use with their students. Using this approach teachers will work to answer these questions:

  1. How do we design quality PBL?
  2. How do we effectively scaffold and assess learning?
  3. How do we effectively manage and implement PBL?

This workshop is designed for classroom teachers. Leadership and administration are certainly welcome but we encourage them to consider our Leadership PBL workshop.

This workshop will be a blend of synchronous and asynchronous work with two options:

  • The public (open-registration) workshop option will meet synchronously online twice a week for 4 weeks.
  • The school cohort group workshop option will meet synchronously online with dates set to meet each school’s needs.

To provide a more personalized learning experience this workshop is limited to 8 participants. Certificates of completion (PDF files) to be provided via email.

CREATING A CULTURE OF INQUIRY

June 7th through July 1st

  • synchronous meetings Sundays and Wednesdays 4pm, EDT

How can we create a culture of inquiry?

This workshop gives teachers tools they can use to grow a culture of inquiry in their classrooms. Participants will experience multiple questioning and inquiry strategies that they can use with their students immediately.

Engaging in scenarios on sometimes contentious topics but with clear expectations, participants will:  Learn how to pull profound thinking and problem solving from learners using questions to contextualize content and knowledge.

  1. Develop and practice their own inquiry skills.
  2. Learn how to pull profound thinking and problem solving from learners using questions to contextualize content and knowledge.
